Because the circus people were totes angels, right?

Joker remained steadfastly loyal, even after the guy who took them in practically spat in his face. He was used, was pretty much told he was used, and still remained stupidly loyal. Not to mention, they did exactly what Ciel did, in the end: they were willing to get rid of anyone in their way.

Also, can you honestly blame Ciel for his breakdown there? That is what being triggered is. He had an inherently violent reaction to this.

This. What happened to them was tragic, but they were a group of people who kidnapped and murdered children for their bones even if was for others. Once you cross the moral even horizon that you're willing to kill innocent children for gain, you are not a good guy anymore.

I doubt Ciel wanted to have them killed but they made that choice to try to kill them. I mean, he felt awful enough about it that he took Snake in as his footman.

This. By the end of the arc, we've learned that the circus people were tasked with kidnapping Ciel and murdering everyone in his house to eliminate the evidence before Ciel and Sebastian joined them: Ciel and his household were next on their target list. Up to this point they'd been successful in many similar abductions and multiple murders; they're professional killers and they're proud of their skill at it. We have every reason to think that they would have gone right on doing it if they hadn't been sent after a target that turned out to be too hard for them, and thus forcibly stopped.

Which isn't to say that Ciel and Sebastian are heroic or good kind cuddly people. They're not. But I'm not sure I understand the indignation on behalf of the circus people here.
