Look, I may have lost interest in visibly or socially declaring any aspect of any interest I may or may not have in fandom (fact: my current boyfriend insisted I'll run around showing the Trunks-themed soda can I got in a Japanese vending machine, but just because that's something he'd do doesn't mean that I'd do it--), but I don't do it because I think it's "one of those things you grow out of." If you like doing it, then feel no regret. You like doing it. Nobody ever got through life being universally loved. And why is it necessary for you to be involved in the cosplay community to cosplay? Just do it your damn self.

With that being said, you have to prioritize your life sometimes. It sounds like you need to save up money to move out and stuff. Well, why not just...take care of what you need to take care of and come back at a later date?

OP: Thank you for this. It's been on my mind to take my time with cosplaying, but I was afraid that by the time I DO have enough money and time to cosplay what I love, I wouldn't look the part, I would be too old, etc. I know age doesn't matter when it comes to cosplaying, but I feel like I'm fooling myself into thinking I could pull off dressing up like a 10 year old when I'm probably, say, close to 30 by that point. And regardless, the cosplay community can be pretty harsh and I've received criticism from the ones I'm in before. That's why I thought it was better to give it up as a whole.

Guess it's not that easy cause it still breaks my heart at some days. I can probably withstand the criticism better now, but right now I wish I could just let it go and focus on bigger dreams. I'll probably figure out an answer soon... there's got to be a reason why I still want to do this.
