(Anonymous) 2012-03-15 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)I doubt my family's black genetic makeup is anywhere near the same as my "black Hispanic" Dominican friends.
One for example, has dark skin and thick curly hair. I've seen the rest of her family and its a grab bag and a half of genetics. Her little sister has tan skin and straight, wavy hair. Her father has dark skin, hazel eyes, and thick hair. Her mother has olive skin, straight hair, dark brown eyes and her grandfather has dark skin and green eyes. I've met people in her family who look like they can be part of mine and others who look like they're of European or Indian descent. Dominicans are mostly mixed race through and through and it's been that way for hundreds of years. Just sayin'.
