OP here. A multitude of things I really can't put my finger on. I've listened to hours and hours of his material and a lot of it touches on religion and one day it just hit me. Sorry I can't explain but anon posted some good links below that you could check out

yeah i just checked them out right now. personally i've heard all of what he's said before - from other people - but i'm glad you found something you think is right. that can be really hard, especially when it involves the supernatural.

stephen fry tends to be a more persuasive atheist in general than richard dawkins.

yeah, that makes sense. i appreciate his lack of vitriol, and especially his ability to respect others' beliefs.

i'm not religious myself but i don't really consider myself atheistic - or a strong one at least, so i like hearing others' perspectives in an effort to find something that sticks with me too. personally i've found that "weak" atheists and ones who aren't pushy or militant about it come off as the most convincing, somehow.
