while I don't agree with the school of thought that rapists deserve to be raped themselves, I still don't think it's a view harsh enough to actually cause me to lose faith in humanity. I've known rape victims who have wished that their rapist would one day know how it feels, but I don't think they are necessarily horrible people for thinking that.

Yes, I know a lot of people who get a vengeful pleasure at the idea of rapists getting sent to jail to get raped themselves. There have been plenty of instances of families of women who have been raped hoping that the rapist gets what's coming to him. Especially as convicted rapists often do get singled out for abuse and rape by inmates. Karmic irony, and while not exactly biblically virtuous, hardly an unfair desire to have.
