Ugh, sometimes I think this is a totally valid worry, tbh. This morning I was looking at the reviews that just came out for the film, and pretty much all of them started off by comparing it to Twilight. It annoys the shit out of me because, aside from having a female protagonist and being popular? They have nothing in common. I mean, sure, all of them were saying it was better than Twilight, but I hate that people seem to connect them for some reason. Of course it's going to lead people who don't know better than to think they're similar.

Compounding this, when I told my mom I was going to the midnight premiere with my friend, she asked "What IS that about, anyway?" I found out she was under the impression, based on how it's been marketed and talked about, that it WAS another 'supernatural Twilight kind of thing.'

I literally know nothing about this franchise other than what's in the trailer, and I'M under the impression it's about a Rand-type semi-dystopian future where teenagers are pitted against each other to the death for the amusement of everyone else. It looks to me a mashup of Logan's Run, The Truman Show, with a salting of Lord of the Flies thrown in. Is that not what it's about? That's what the studio wants me to think it's about; the closest thing I see to romance is some boy sad to see Katniss go, and I don't see anything supernatural, really ...

Yeah, I hate how they're trying to market things to look like Twilight now. If it were a book I loved that they did that with, I would be livid.

To be fair, they seem to be marketing everything that falls into the "for teens" demographic like Twilight right now.
