Ever heard of the Nuzlocke Challenge/comics? The sentiment of being attached to a Pokemon you first catch is why I enjoy it as much as I do, and I've trained a lot of weaker/odd Pokemon by following the Nuzlocke rules. It's not that different from what you do :D

Dude, I don't think I play pokémon any other way anymore. I'm always like, first catch/favorites all the way.

Fourthed, and I also tend not to play any other way any more. Though I don't count handouts or the Game Corner, and I sometimes fudge the rules with Repels if there's a unique I want.

I made an extra house-rule for my Sapphire game, which was "don't catch/obtain anything if your team is full (if a spot opens resume Rule 1)". I've got three "dead" in the box, a team of six, and that's it. Since one of the dead is my Wingull and another is my Linoone, I'm going to have a tricky time with HM users...
