I never really had a "strategy" to these games but I almost always kept a lot of the first ones I caught on my team. And my starter.

I don't think they're inherently inferior either. I had a pretty badass Butterfree this one time...

NGL, the Butterfree episode was the first Pokemon episode I ever saw. The nostalgia factor is so high I always have a Butterfree on my team. Wiping out the Elite 4 with Sleep powder and Confusion. Go little guy, go~

Butterfree can learn Psychic and Psywave. I have a level 95 one on my Pokemon Yellow.

That episode was one of the grand total of two Pokemon episodes that I have ever seen. I've never been a watcher of the show, only a casual gamer XD

All those special moves they can learn, though--oh man, I love me some Butterfree. You can teach them Psychic type moves and everything *___*
