Hm? I've always heard that the storyline part of the game was so easy you could get away with whatever mons you wanted. It's only when you go into the competitive scene and the Battle Whatevers that you need to worry about building a team, and that only because you can't cheat with level grinding and healing items.

When I first started playing I did really stupid things with choosing Pokemon and moves and still made it through the Elite Four fine. As long as you have some patience for levelling up (and I don't even mean for endless grinding) I think you can make it.

(I'm only so much better now, to be honest, and I still don't worry about natures and such, but the games are still fun for me.)

haha, as a kid I got rid of p. much every defensive move XD;;;

Yeah, that was me and I don't even have the excuse of being a kid. (I'm still not that big on them unless they're especially cool. Guess I just like to stomp on stuff. Note: I realize this is not a smart way to play the game.)

The new ones are kind of confusing, since there's soooo much stuff to think about. I try to pay attention, but it makes the games a lot less fun to play.

With Black/White I finally started looking up moves and deciding on better movesets, but I still don't get into natures and EVs and all that. For some people that's a great part of the game but it's too much for me and I'm not going to go into tournaments or anything. I did trading over Wi-fi and some very casual random battles but I just want to beat the Elite Four, mostly.
