there is nothing wrong with being 'white, privileged and cis-male' and commenting on such subjects as long people acknowledges them when putting a point across.

And this is where I chime in that I can't wait until we all grow up a bit more and stop feeling like we have to disclaim our opinions based on our race, gender and sexuality. That should only be necessary in blind scientific studies. Not general discourse.

There's nothing inherently wrong with spouting off unfounded opinions on any subject you have no clue about, and yet the only subjects I see such an influx of uninformed people are those on social issues and demands to be taken seriously.

Oh, I do agree that it's healthy for everyone to be involved in these conversations as it helps educate people. My main reason for putting that in there was because it seems like anyone who defends his comments is treated like they don't know anything. That said, I can see why people had an issue with the way he went about it.
