I suppose it's just the initial knee-jerk reaction. That bias the secret is really about - somehow thinking that Gustav Klimt is somehow /more/ of an artist than Hiroaki Samura.
I guess it's just easier to categorize anime and other cartoon-type styles as "kids stuff." And that makes it lesser than zee Fine Arrttss.
I still may think a painting is more emotionally moving than a page out of manga, but you're right; they both are defined as art. Apples and oranges, I guess - they're both fruit.
