The only reason she isn't my favorite character is because I can't understand her... I've never been in a situation where I've devoted so much to one person, so I can't really see eye-to-eye with her. But neither to I think she's weak and spineless!

Oh, and 19? I have a real life. I go out every day to the weight room, I live with two of the most awesome guys ever (both of which I met via the interwebs), I socialize.

And I worry about how we're going to make rent this month when we're not sure when we're getting another contract, when I'm trying to pick up an extra job but am utterly unemployable. I don't even want to think about the other bills piling up, ER visits and phones and electricity and so much more. And how am I going to feed the three of us when we've got a pound of hamburger and a package of meifun to last us a month?

Real lives suck. The only reason I get through mine is because of my wonderful, amazing internet friends. (And my boys. Who I met because I didn't have a "real" life. Osnap!)

So much WERD. Fandom is just a hobby, not your life. Go out and experience it. There's so much beauty in the world around us, and I think people who live their entire lives online are completely missing out. There should at least be a balance between your online life and a healthy offline one.

11. I just started reading this series. I have only managed to find random volumes so I haven't got the full picture yet, but so far I like Misa. From the way the fandom talked about her, I was expecting her to be an eartly incarnation of the God of Stupid, but she's not. She's just got bad taste in men and is, um, somewhat easily led. Not crimes. Sure, she's not as sharp as L or Light, but considering they're both supposed to be freakishly intelligent, all that means is that Misa isn't a genius.



That doesn't mean she's so moronic she can't tie her shoes mind because hey, idiot fangirls? life ain't black and white. Most people aren't genuises. I'm guessing she comes in for all this hate because she's an attractive blonde girl who loves the male lead and thus gets in the way of the yaoi or the Mary Sue fantasies - fangirls can be predictable like that.

I think people hate Misa because she acts like Light's appendage. Having another DN user--and a woman at that--could have really shaken things up. It could have been a fascinating three way match of intellectual wills; Misa didn't even have to be as smart as L and Light, just more unpredictable. Instead she's Light's plaything, and she never did anything as clever as finding out his identity.

I don't hate Misa. I don't even dislike her--she makes me laugh. But I do get dissapointed when I think of what she could have been if the author had been bold enough not to make her into Light's cheerleader.

19. You can have both at the same time :O but it is a shame when people don't even consider getting out and all of that because they are into fandom. However, most of those people will eventually have to get out because they need to support themselves, so it's not a bad thing to let them have a little fun while they can. However, after that, it gets a bit pathetic if they are still being supported by their parents and making NO money whatsoever because they can't leave a computer.


I enjoy fandom, but I take breaks because I hate fandom attitudes. However, I also enjoy society and 'the real world', but I take breaks because I can't stand societal attitudes, either. :D The real world only has nature over fandom, and nature is perfect and wonderful and beautiful and owns the computer ♥

She hasn't stopped, but she went from posting reams of sketches and small materials and loads of big paintings... to not even posting her big paintings on her site much anymore. She updates, what, twice a year since the drama started? And she stopped the smaller pictures and sketches within a month or two of the drama. Coincidentally, she used to post those on the same forum the drama started on.

I doubt she's stopped painting. I'm sure she has stopped showing us the vast majority of her stuff, though. And that's what I hate.
