He still did at least one porn request that I know of for a teenage girl, drawing her OC having sex with Danny. I think what happened after was ridiculous, the whole Truie movement, but if I saw that someone in a forum I was running was doing that, even if it was somewhere else, and I was pretty sure it was the same person, I'd sure as hell boot them off my forum.

Here's a question.

How would you know they're the same person?

Yeah, you might have a good suspision, but how would you know? I can think of at least 3 different scenrieos where banning someone just because they might be the same person would be a shitty and bad mod thing to do.

Yes keep watch on the guy just in case. But for things he might have done else where? No.


And I kind of can't understand why people would support someone like that. Not that I think that the whole Truie movement is any better, but some of the the Antis lost a lot of their "this is all harmless" credibility by supporting that loser.

Eeeeh, my area of the fandom is less support and more 'kangaroo courts are illegal you morons.'

I like slash, I like pr0n, but when you get to older dudes giving porn to teenage girls in RL, you've lost me. Especially with that one guy who's friends with him that's been tricking teenage girls into giving him their addresses, saying he'll send them the series on DVD for 20 bucks...

Sorry. Hate the Truies, but can't really get behind some of the Antis either. I'll stay over here in the moderate "I'm staying away from all the crazies" section, and also writing the characters IC. Which most of the Antis don't.

The guy has the same art on some of his other sites modified to have more clothes. I'm pretty sure he linked to his devart at some point on the forums. There's a pretty damn good chance it's the same guy if it's the same art. Either that or it's someone ripping off someone else's art, in which case...uh, ban. I'm pretty sure he plugged his non-porny art a few times. If it was someone else, that would have meant it was someone else's non-porny art he was putting more clothes on and presenting as his own.

And even then, it's not that. It's that I've seen people defending him. Defend your right to draw and write what you want sure, but don't defend the skeezes. Come on, now. I'm not saying "clean up fandom" and go out of your way either, but jeez, why go out of the way to defend someone like that? And you know some Antis do.

Okay, I'm 21 and I still wouldn't want a pic of his wang and would consider it harassment. Only I'm smart enough not to send off for that. As a rule, the ones he's tricked have tended to be younger because they're more naive. And again, it's just...the association. I'm not for "clean up the fandom and be a bitch" but I'm all for shunning or even just "Dude, wtf is wrong with you?" if a fandom-mate is doing something wrong. It's like...the whole atmosphere is conducive to either utter condemnation or too much permissiveness, and considering many of the fans are my sister's age, I do get a little tetchy about the latter. It's just protective instinct.

Nope. But at least I know mpreg is a biological impossibility. Like I said, I'm not going to side with the Truies and shut you down (especially since their stuff sucks too, and I've told them so--told WhiteGryphon herself, in fact), but if the antis really want to make the argument that what they do is artistic license, just...at least make it good. It's not so much that it's Danny/Vlad or odd pairings or whatever, but it's that the stories aren't really well done. I can read and enjoy an odd pairing if done well. I would actually enjoy a darkish fic where Vlad was being a perv and trying to victimize Danny if it wasn't portrayed as if the relationship was perfectly normal and healthy, and there was a reason Vlad had skipped from Maddie, and Danny kicked his ASS in the end, and dealt with what had happened to him in whatever way he realistically would.

But I have yet to see someone with the skill to pull it off, that wouldn't write it as "OMG, 40 year old man having teenage boysex, HAWT! BAPBAPBAP."

I have all of one or two authors in fandom I like to read. I wish there were more. I WANT To be a nice fan and be nice to people and go "I LOVE YOUR FIC" and I'm really not that picky. Really. I know it sounds like I am but I'm not. Some Antis are pretty cool, but most creep me out not with the pairings they write, but with HOW they write them. It's like a fic where someone has a character torture a cat or stalk and murder a person and sort of presents it as if it's okay to do in RL, or like readers should be getting off on it. Some Antis write stuff like that. I don't think they'd do it in RL, but it still makes you...I dunno, wonder. It makes you uncomfortable.

And it's like: Okay, I'll defend your right to write it to the death, but...where's the merit in this? Especially if it's not written well? Where does it even approach art or literature to merit the "'art'istic license" argument?

It ultimately comes to...what the hell do I have in common with these people other than a love of the show and a hatred of the Truies? I could be chill with people if they wrote dark stuff but didn't write it as if it was supposed to be really hot and good and awesome, and there are a few that are cool, that I am friendly with, but most don't.

I just can't be friendly with people who write hurt and pain and bad stuff like it's supposed to be healthy, just like I can't be friendly with the self-righteous and sanctimonious.

And the sad thing is I would really, really like to be, because I'm not the sort of idiot that thinks the characters or real or that if someone shows one aspect of their personality that they're some sort of creepy weirdo.

But some people on both sides scare me a little. On the one because they're too quick to gather up the posse and string someone up for having a differing opinion, on the other because sometimes you really do wonder from how someone writes something if they might possibly think it's okay.

I really don't think it's as much of an absolute as I presented it in the secret, since that was more a venting thing, but it really does seem like everyone sometimes.

And nobody ever writes anything that actually captures both the fun and peril of the show, or if they do it's very hard to find. I don't profess to be a wonderful author myself, but at least I make the attempt.
