Very hard to read, font's too small.

"James is an unmitigated asshole.
Somehow, people excuse his terrible behaviour because "he's dying". They quote the one 'nice' thing he said and portray him as a brave and tragic hero.
I have a degenerative neurological disease. I have a year or less left. I've been witness to fellow patients dying, friends dying, and those "left behind".
While anger, confusion, terror, and even cruelty come with death; being as mean as James was has no excuse. He was a horrid person and he died a horrid person.

S!B: "You, like, totally didn't get the movie." "Wow, where's your heart?" "But he's dying!!" "Who gives a fuck, James is so beautiful. Hnnnggg."

(ftr, OP, I know I'm nitpicking horribly, but that shouldn't be a semicolon, it should be a comma. The "while" at the start of the sentence means that the latter clause is already linked into the sentence. HELLO I AM IN TERRIBLE GRAMMAR MONSTER MODE TODAY oh, the irony of my missing comma)

Haven't seen the movie, don't give a flying fuck about cumbersnatch, but I do agree with the sentiments of your secret, OP. My father was like that - a cruel, narcissistic, emotionally and physically abusive, borderline-psychopath. He died a slow and awful death from ALS. While I don't think anyone deserves that, the fact was, he was an ass until his dying breath. Dying of a terminal illness didn't change that, and the fact that he couldn't be fucked to try and make amends or peace with his own family just underlined what an ass he was. So, yeah. I agree with you.

And I hope you have as peaceful a journey as possible.

Oh, wow, OP. That's awful and I'm sorry to hear that. Not quite sure if this is how I should say this, but I wish you well.

I couldn't agree more, I am very sorry to hear of your illness, OP, and I wish you luck and peace. <3

I don't know about "unmitigated." He's definitely not perfect, but I thought his anger and resentment was understandable, and it was clear he hadn't always been that way. I thought it worked, personally. (Also, Benny's performance. ♥ Oh my god. And JJ Feild's entire existence.)

I've been afraid to watch this movie because it seems like a shameless tearjerker, but now I'm kind of looking forward to seeing it with your critique in mind.

Some people when they're dying naturally become more selfish and cruel. I didn't particularly see it because I wasn't there all the time, but when my dad was very recently dying of cancer my step-mum told me he had become a lot more selfish.

I'm not excusing James because I think Cumberbatch is pretty or anything, but I honestly don't see where you're going. I think he cared deeply about his friends but was just so fed up with life - and in so much pain - that he wasn't aware of their feelings as much as he would have been if he were healthy. Which apparently happens to some people because they're so aware of the pain they're in.

Wow OP.. YOU sound like a dick.

No offense but everyone I've lost in life died because of a serious illness and yes, while we all have our moment of anguish, my friends and family completely changed the moment they found out they were dying.

I commend the movie for portraying that nasty side of dying because had it not been there the movie would not have been believable.

Those four men were a family and they understood what was happening and I believe James said it best:
“The sickness may be mine, but the tragedy is theirs”

I took from it that even though he was being a complete ass during some parts of the movie, he most likely did it to make them see that they had a life time to fix things. He didn't.

So yeah.. long story short, even for someone who says they are suffering from a deadly disease, I think you TOTALLY missed the point.

To you perhaps. But I agree with OP.

Soneone sounds like an angry "Benny" fan.
