Possible minor error there:

Keanu didn't donate his paycheck of US$32 million to the costume and special effects people; he donated it to the costume and special effects department of the Matrix sequels, because they had gone over budget and otherwise wouldn't have been able to finish the film.

...then again, the source (http://www.whoaisnotme.net/articles/2003_0605_kea2.htm) for that claim is Fox News. :\ But I think it was legit and that there were others supporting the same claim.

However, from a 2003 interview reported by multiple sources:
The first question came up about the money Keanu put back on the movie in order for it to better come under budget. "What I did was I put part of what was given in my contract to create a pool, so that other people who don't usually do profit participation could see some money," Reeves replied succinctly. So, why did you do this? "Because I wanted to."

So it's possible that two separate incidents got conflated over the course of media reporting.

He did, however, definitely buy a Harley Davidson for each of the 12 stunt men who worked with him on Reloaded.
