peetas fandom is probably so big because usually it's the badass one that wins. it rarely is the nice dependable one and so the people who like that are just liking this guy instead of being split between a dozen guys in a dozen books

Ew, no. Any lady would be better than Johanna. I'd even take Katniss/Prim over that, and I say this as someone who can't stand incest. If you think Peeta and Gale are both horrible choices for Katniss, I can't imagine why you would think Johanna's a good one.

Johanna was the only one who was real with her imo. Peeta coddled her while she and Gale clearly lost understanding of each other post-THG. Johanna was the only one who called Katniss out on her shit, but was still pleasant for her to be around in Mockingjay.

You just convinced me to ship Johanna/Katniss.

That being said, I always thought that Katniss had a definitely better relationship with Cinna than with Peeta or (post Hunger-Game) Gale. It would have been weird, needed development, lots of time (alone with no mics hidden everywhere), and a relationship would probably have brought up a lot of misunderstandings, but she seemed to trust him more than... anybody else really.
(On Cinna's side though, idk why he'd even consider it but whatever, I'm not all serious about this ship anyway, what I'm saying is that there just seemed to be more chemistry with him than with the canon choices)
