The reason I was upset over the lack of romance wasn't because I was expecting it. I was expecting an emphasis on the games, or at least looking forward to more of an emphasis on the games. BUT, I felt that based on the books and everything, the movie didn't show enough of a bond between Peeta and Katniss (whether friends/companions/lovers/whatever). The whole world is supposed to buy that these two would do anything for each other, or at least the Capitol is supposed to buy that, but I was left not believing it. They were just there. And I didn't necessarily want more kissing, maybe more talking while they were in the cave, walking, hunting? Like when he told her about when he first loved her, or she told him about Prim's goat, or just...something. It felt too flat for anyone to believe they were lovers. I kept thinking of President Snow in CF and "convince me." I just wasn't convinced.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I read the book for the first time a few days before going to see the movie and was kind of baffled how anyone could see Peeta and Katniss' relationship as anything other than strategy. Their interaction felt too flat to be anything else to me...but I kind of liked it that way, personally.

Oh, I didn't mind that it was portrayed this way. It kind of makes sense as to why the Districts see her more as a rebellion. It just made me seriously reconsider the level of intelligence in the Capitol. I just felt like it could have been developed more on the train, or in training. Since in the books they were supposed to be together during everything but in the movie they predominantly weren't. If I remember correctly.
