but omg yes dang this is a flawless secret
wheatley is such a beautiful soul i just want to hold him and remind him how gr8 he is
that said, you actually can "catch" him; if you stand under him when he falls, he'll land on your head. the game won't progress until you move out of the way and he hits the floor though. ;__;
i still do it every time cuz then i can at least say i tried

I tried pretty hard myself. As if catching him would somehow rewrite his later doucheyness, or his motives for being angry with you.
But I think the point is that you can't catch him, just as you can't prevent him saying uninformed shit and turning evil. When you think about the things he claims to be angry at you about, it becomes clear that you really have done nothing at all to him (bossing him around, silently judging), and if Rattman hadn't interfered, you would have had no life support, just like all the other ten thousand human test subjects under Wheatley's care.
He's an extremely interesting character, but he probably deserved to fall flat on his face at least once.

When you came across the Oracle Turret for the first time I wanted to put Wheatley down and take the turret with me instead though XD

On my first playthrough, I missed the "you never caught me" bit of his diatribe at the end, so it was only at the very end where you let go where I actually felt bad. It was like, "oh no. that was like when we used to be cool and now i feel bad a bit :'("
