Generally, I think CG animation works better, if your protagonists aren't human. I really loved Tangled, but I think human faces often look very generic in CGI. With toys and Monsters and highly cartoony animals this isn't much of a problem.

Yeah I think this is it for me. I never like how humans are rendered in CG.

The human characters are getting better, I think the first film where I really enjoyed the human designs was UP because the characters actually had quite a bit of charm and they are getting closer to translating 2d artists original interpretations.

Tangled was a problem because the general Disney (or glen keane) style does not translate well into 3d yet. Rapunzel would have looked absolutely adorable if Glen Keane had animated her in 2d, but the 3d just makes her look a little off.

I was just thinking the same thing. CGI doesn't bother me at all with toys or robots. my mileage varies on animals. Humans... eh. And that's not saying that I hate all CGI movies with humans, but some of them just look so... weird and rubbery and generic and shiny and weird.
