(Anonymous) 2012-04-01 12:04 am (UTC)(link)For me I think it's mostly a lack of exposure when I was younger. Watching Labyrinth now, I don't get any of that heartwarming nostalgia that can usually help gloss over either cringeworthy moments or just general blah-ness.
The dialogue is brilliantly clever and I do love that, but most of the movie just has too much WTF humor for my tastes. I find most of Henson's stuff to be like that.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-01 12:20 am (UTC)(link)I do have a nostalgia factor I suppose with the movie, but I always just love that kind of weird, oddly magical type of movie in general.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-01 02:13 am (UTC)(link)I actually like Jim Henson and Monty Python, but this movie just did nothing for me. I had a real hard time really liking any of the characters, some parts just really seemed to come out of left-field in a bad way, and also the whole ballroom scene between Bowie and the girl was just kind of... odd. She seemed way too young for him, but there was really supposed to be a chemistry between them I guess? idk.
