Oh, and for the record, OP: People have been speculating about the precise nature of Holmes and Watson's relationship, and outright shipping them, since before Sherlock and Elementary were even thought of (including yours truly). Hell, a movie made in 1970, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, joked about the possibility of them being a couple. This is not some new idea that either Sherlock or the Guy Ritchie films came up with on their own; it's been around for a LONG time.
