I don't know, I mean, I shipped Yuki/Tohru in the anime but when I read the manga a few years later, it was definitely Kyo/Tohru all the way for me. Fruits Basket is the ultimate OT3 for me though! I was a bit put out in the end when the mangaka played down Yuki's feelings for Tohru.

I wouldnt say Yuki's a 'nicer' person than Kyo either, really. They both had moments of dickishness, but they're both good people who cared a lot for Tohru.

Oh, this.

I initially got into Furuba 'cause I loved the idea of Kyo/Tohru (which I saw featured in a shoujo mag) but quickly fell in love with Kyo. I adore Kyo/Tohru and Yuki/Machi, but my ultimate pairing will always be Tohru/Yuki/Kyo.

And I was bummed out, too, but I sort of fell a little bit in love with Machi, so.

And yeah, I also agree that Yuki isn't exactly 'nicer' than Kyo. He treated Tohru better, but he was just as condescending, short-tempered, sharp-tongued, and quick to raise a fist as Kyo was at times. He was better behaved for sure, but then look at how he was raised. Didn't exactly make him Mr. Nice Guy.

They were both good, albeit troubled guys. And they both cared for Tohru deeply.
