I'm the exact opposite. I always ship the heroine with the jerk. :D

(I loved Hatsumi with Ryoki, wanted Duck with Fakir, adored Kyo with Tohru (though admittedly I loved Yuki/Machi even more ♥)

Have you ever read Kare First Love, OP? The heroine falls for a super nice guy in the story.

I go for the "jerk"/nice girl pairing when the nice girl is actually liked and respected by the jerk...who isn't really a jerk so much as a socially inept type. If the "jerk" is a legit jackass, I don't tend to ship them with anyone, at least not while viewing it as ~so cute and romantic~. But maybe that's just me!

I ship a lot of older guy/younger girl pairings so. :U Though I have to say all my OTPs are bossy girls and nicer/quieter/gentler sorts of men. HAHAHA.

I never did finish FB to see how Yuki and Machi panned out, though. QQ

I'm the exact same way. The quickest thing that will turn me off a new series is when the "jerk" starts verbally/physically/emotionally abusing the nice girl and it's presented as "true love" rather than the over-possessive control issues.

Which tends to narrow down the number of series I read more than it should, which is a depressing fact in its own right.

For some reason I'm really into this. *coughs*Hot Gimmick/Skip Beat/Hana Yori Dango*coughs*. I don't condone it IRL and can't get into that type of ship in anything outside of manga for some seriously weird reason, but in manga? Whoo, boy. I'm all on it like white on rice.

Hatsumi/Ryoko from Hot Gimmick is so completely dysfunctional it's kind of scary. Ryoki pretty much torments the poor girl from the beginning of the series to the very end, and yet I still ship the hell out of them. Major guilty pleasure, NGL.

I'm guessing you ship Kyoko/Sho for Skip Beat? And I do admit, I love Hana Yori Dango, but I could never get into Skip Beat.

It's like I can totally get into these kinds of ships if at least somewhere in the text its acknowledged that there's something not quite healthy (in fact, those end up becoming some of my favorite ships of all time), but when it's outright true love I can't get behind it. I suppose it's because I had to deal with a Nice Guy ex-friend who displayed a bunch of similar traits, even though we weren't actually dating and it just put me off that sort of thing for good. :\

I'm the same way. One reason I absolutely loved Kyo/Tohru was because it looked for about two seconds like it was going to go that way, and then instead Kyo turned out to be amazing and adoring and respectful in his own Kyo way-- and oh hey I see I still stan the shit out of that pairing, years later.

I actually started rereading the second for a second time all the way through on Sunday and about every other chapter I'm like, "DHDJGKNDF I LOVE THIS SERIES."

I love Kyo/Tohru, but I think one of my favorite pairings (at least the last time I read it) is Arisa/Kureno. And seeing as how I've been stanning the shit out of her this time around, I don't think it'll change. Also Mayuko/Hatori (yes, I have a thing with fringe ships). Talk about nice people with prickly/detached outer shells.
