What? Katniss would have killed whoever she needed to kill to get home to Prim. She made a promise, and her family were relying on her.

If a Career is coming at you with sword drawn and planning to chop you into pieces, you'd stand there and just let them because to do otherwise would be morally repugnant?
If Clove decided to slice you up slowly you'd lie back and take it?

You have no idea what you would truly do in this real life or death situation once natural human survival instincts kick in.

She made a promise, and her family were relying on her.

This. In the women's self defense classes I help teach, part of the class is helping people realize how much people rely on them. Sometimes they have OP's attitude of "I'd rather die than take another person's life, even if that person was attacking me." And what we tell them is that people in your life rely on you, friends, family, whoever, and if you won't fight for your life for your own sake, do it for them.

My mum and I were talking about the necessity of me making a will soon the other day, and we got onto the topic of what should happen if one of us were to die since we only have each other, and she said that if I died and she was still alive, her life wouldn't be worth living anymore, and that she'd have to kill herself. Completely truthfully honestly.

Even if I had so little self worth/some supposedly moralistic highground that somehow prevented me from becoming victim to the natural human survival instinct... I would fight for my life to my last breath for her.

Freaking agreed. This armchair moralizing is at best silly and at worst offensive and disrespectful. Unless OP's actually been a child forced into an underaged Survivor death match reality show, they can't say what they'd do. I'm always annoyed when people act so sure of their actions in extreme horrible situations. (This was a huge thing in the Saw fandom.) Playing What Would You Do is totally fun, but using it to judge other characters/real people or to play high-and-mighty is not cool.

If OP really has been a child forced into an underaged Survivor death match reality show... and is submitting fandomsecrets... clearly they are a Victor, and therefore a hypocrite.

This is precisely like the time I had a discussion on a train with my then best friend about What Would You Do if you were in a tiny plane that crashlanded in the himalayas far from anywhere and it was deep snow and freezing and you may not be rescued for like weeks.

Would you eat the dead?

YES. I WOULD EAT ANYONE IF IT MEANT STAYING ALIVE.

Supposedly, according to my then bff and about a dozen people I don't know giving me horrified stares, this makes me a cannibalistic MONSTER.

Well. Monsters represent.

I think the assumption in WWYD games has to always be that you don't really know, in most cases. And also that most choices don't really have a concrete moral value. The game's no fun otherwise. I hate getting into moralizing debates.

FTR my honest best guess of what I'd do is that I would run away screaming and crying with my hands over my head and probably get knifed for my trouble. =P The other thing that I hate significantly less than armchair moralizers but nevertheless hate is the armchair badass.

ETA and I am pretty sure I'd eat dead people to stay alive. Not sure about making new dead people. I'm more likely to be killed off, although I'd be making a pretty strong argument that my size and weight means very little meat to be had and fewer resources needed to survive than my fellow inmates...

I was talking this over with my mum, the whole WWYD if you lived in Panem thing...and honestly, no matter where I lived, I would try to be as prepared as possible for the eventuality of being reaped just in case. As much knife work/tactics/survival/edible plant identification/trapmaking/ANYTHING that might help as possible.

Just. In. Case.

I know my strengths from survival training weekends. I'd go straight for the trees and hide, fashion whatever weapon I could, and do my best to pick other tributes off in sneaky ways to give myself the best chance of living. I am not a person made for cornucopia bloodbaths.

That's a good plan.
Me and my sister had a discussion about what we would be like as tributes.
My sister is very physically fit, so we concluded that she would do very well.
I am a total weakling, though, and would be terrified the whole time. I would probably end up getting killed.
