Seriously?

The OP used their money-- the LEAST she could have done was be honest about it. If she needed money for an abortion then she should have 'woman up' and said so. Since when is lying and deceiving, especially to friends being generous, justifiable in any way?

Your little hypothetical scenario is nice and all, but that didn't happen. OP went in lying, and there's no excuse for that.

There's a time issue with abortions. It's not like she could have waited indefinitely to save enough money for one.

So what? That's the OP's problem. It doesn't excuse the fact that she lied to and deceived her friends.

If I get shot or end up in a car accident that's my problem too, but I get immediate medical care anyway. I might get stuck with a huge bill afterwards, but they don't deny me emergency treatment.

A system where people can't get an abortion they need because they can't afford it is the real problem here.

The OP desperate thing during a desperate time.
