Because there's no time frame for buying computer parts? They could have saved up and/or asked and been honest and it wouldn't have been a disaster if they didn't raise enough money right away.

There is a time frame for abortions and you need to get that money in time otherwise it's too late. Not to mention the harassment they most certainly would have received from pro-life people had they been honest.

No one is happy that the OP felt that she needed to lie or that it was a good thing. Some of us just think it might have been a least awful decision.

I really don't give a flying fuck about the woman's abortion, she is a wretched person for lying and conning her friends out of their money for something they might not have agreed with. Pro-life harassment would be a small price to pay for, oh, I don't know, NOT BEING A LYING PIECE OF SHIT.

to you maybe. and I'm sure the op doesn't give a flying fuck about that. so there.

your priorities are fucked up. Pro-life harassment can take the form of physical harm and murder and if the OP's RL identity was known to anyone on her flist, that's what she could have been facing.

Meh. Sorry if I care more about my money than some random person's fee-fees.

You're not obligated to give anyone money though - but once you do, you can't really control how they'll use it.

True, but that doesn't mean I can't think they're scum if they ask me for money because they need X and then using the money for Y, which -- if you go back, I think you'll see -- is the complaint of most ppl against OPs actions.

Yes, they can.

Do you care more about your money than a persons life? I'm not even talking about all your money. Max 50 bucks here. What's more important to you?

physical harm and murder = fee-fees

And in this context, this person would be your friend. Not some random person.

You're a shitty friend.

Your comments, anon, are proving that YOU are a piece of shit and proving to me, and probably some other people, that if we knew you IRL, we'd NEVER ask YOU for any kind of help, especially in matters such as these.

So I'm a piece of shit for protecting what I rightfully earned? What's the weather like in Bizarro World?

And if you knew me IRL, you'd know I'm a very generous person when it comes to people I care about.

Nobody is parting you from your hard-earned money. But fact is, if you say, choose to give coins to a beggar, it out of your hands if he uses it for food or booze.

Nope, not if he says he'll use it for food not alcohol.

Hey troll

People aren't businesses

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
begging is a business now?

And where does the OP say "I asked for money specifically for a computer". She said she had computer problems and people offered her money. Unless they all said "you can only spend this on a computer" and got her to agree not to spend it on anything else, they haven't a leg to stand on.

You're also a hugely judgemental asshole with no amount of empathy for people that aren't as fortunate as you.
