I think you need to read more short fics (and maybe more short stories in general) before you come to that conclusion. Preferring certain lengths is fine, but it doesn't make other styles or lengths less valid.

And preferences vary. I rarely read fic longer than 10,000 words unless it's been highly recommended or I have some extra time. I have a hard time focusing when I read stuff online, and I don't have a lot of time for fic reading to begin with.
