Huh. And here I was proud of writing a fic that's over 1k long. I was under the impression that most oneshots/chapters are around 1k words.

Honestly, don't be so quick to dismiss short fics. With short fics or drabbles, the word constraint required the author to choose their words and details carefully, throwing out redundancy. This results in some of the most beautiful pieces of work I've ever read. Also I'm kinda attention deficit, so short fics are preferable to me.

Me, too. I just don't have epic ideas. I have short ideas. Then again, I tend to write crack or fluff, which really doesn't lend itself to novels. The one time I tried to do a really long thing (for FaNoWriMo) it turned into an eldritch monstrosity which really needed to be about three much shorter fics.

And I never have time to read long things any more. About 1k is about what I can sneak in between class and homework and work.
