I don't know...I just have a hard time believing he's completely gay. I feel like if it was supposed to be "oh, they're just buddies, and it's purely a marriage of convenience to hide the fact that he's gay", it'd be played differently. To me their dynamic doesn't come across at all like a friendship between a gay man and straight woman, it comes across like he's in love with her (although I think even he might not realize it). And although as far as I know the actor's never said he's bi like the OP mentions, when he says things like "his relationships with men are only about sex, he's in love with his wife" it's hard to see it otherwise.

And like the person above me says, the last episode made it even more ambiguous (as far as his sexuality, I mean). The snail/oyster metaphor in the scene they were watching right before they ended up having sex made it seem pretty obvious to me that he's not 100% gay, though.

I'm not even sure if it's the fandom the OP is talking about, but the secret reminded me of the way their relationship comes across to me. Obviously interpretations vary, though!

I have no doubt he and Cricket love each other - that much is plainly obvious - but it has never been "romantic" love. They're two people who care deeply for each other and have decided to basically have an open marriage so they can both sleep with other men while maintaining the emotional aspects within themselves. Blake has his "ranch manager" and Cricket has her "tae kwon do" instructor. And as I replied above, they didn't have sex in the last episode because they simply got horny for each other, they had been trying to have sex the whole episode for the sole purpose of having another baby.

As for things the actors and whomever else say, I don't pay attention to those things so I'm going strictly by what I've seen onscreen, which has given me absolutely no reason to doubt that Blake is a gay man who married his best friend for mutually beneficial purposes that don't include sex.

Eh, to me it does come across as romantic, but I may just be crazy. :p I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is, but something about their dynamic reads as very, very different to me than other gay man/straight woman friendships I've seen in media. I don't really know how to explain it, but their relationship just doesn't seem completely platonic to me. It may not be sexual, but there's definitely a romantic element there, IMO. If you're basing orientation completely on who you're sexually attracted to, then yeah, he's gay, but I think it's more complicated than that, so to me, he comes across more as someone whose sexual and romantic attractions don't necessarily match up than someone who's 100% gay, but that's just my interpretation.

And, to be fair, I'm also basing my opinion on various things the actors have said in interviews, so if you're going solely by what's onscreen obviously you'll see things differently.

And then of course there's always the possibility that I'm just crazy, lol.

I think what it is is that they have a very strong emotional relationship in a way that reminds me of Will & Grace. There was no denying that Will was gay, but he and Grace certainly loved each other and had the same kind of emotional bond that I see in Blake and Cricket.

But like Amanda said to Cricket, she doesn't have to worry about losing Blake to another woman and yes, he seems to put Cricket above his male partners. But Cricket does the same thing because in the long run, it's the emotional connection that matters, not the sex. So on a strictly sexual basis, yes, Blake is gay. Romantically/emotionally? I think he's Cricket-oriented. :)

I haven't seen much of Will & Grace so I can't comment on that, but I agree with you otherwise.

Cricket-oriented

Ha, that works. (Not sure why that phrase is amusing me so much, probably lack of sleep, lol.)

DA

Other than the gay man/straight woman thing, I don't think they're much like Will & Grace at all. I may be remembering wrong since I haven't watched the last episodes in a really long time, but didn't they both end up married with kids, and even living in different states I think? Where Will and Grace were best friends, Blake and Cricket are...I'm not sure what they are, but something different. Like, weren't Will and Grace going to have a kid together, and then decided against it because they didn't want that kind of commitment to each other/wanted kids with people they were romantically involved with instead? Whereas Cricket and Blake decided that they want their primary relationship to be with each other and they'll just have an open marriage to get their sexual needs met elsewhere. So there just seems to be different levels of...commitment? in the two relationships, at least to me.

That's why I said it reminds me of W&G, not that it's the exact same situation because it very obviously isn't. The emotional aspect of their relationships is very similar, though; they turn to each other when they can't face anyone else and are more themselves when they're around each other because there's just a complete understanding of trust and acceptance. Yes, Will and Grace ended up living separate lives with their own families but I don't think that devalues the relationship they had during - and before - the show itself.

And hey, who's to say Blake and Cricket won't end up separated throughout the course of the series, especially if their secret gets out (which I would hate but I never trust television writers).
