I think that's what they did D:

This is terrible genderswap. If girl!Cloud had the same backstory, she'd be wearing something... I don't know if practical is the right word for it, but maybe that's what's practical in universe? At least like, something that you wear to look cool rather than to show off the goods.

Boy!Tifa... depends. I never got if the clothes were more for the whole bartender thing than for self-expression, so if he was picking them out to impress the customers, he'd probably want to look really casual and relatable, like the guy you could have a beer with and rant out your life problems, even if you didn't really know him that well. If it's more a personal choice thing then, boy!Tifa would be all about the tight leather pants and open jacket with no shirt, or something equally ridiculous. Still just as fanservicey, but in the opposite direction.

If girl!Cloud had the same backstory I think she'd be wearing the exact same thing that he does in canon (since his clothing is just what Zack was able to dig up for him while they were escaping, and traveling with a girl instead of a boy wouldn't change what was available), it would just fit differently.

That's probably right, haha. I have played the game, it's just been a really long time and I don't remember every detail that well.
