So what are we supposed to say? "Worry more"? Because worrying is not the way you're going to meet that person, you know. If you actually, little by little try to open yourself to the world the right person just might come along. When you look back on your life you don't want to be thinking "I worried I could never meet the right person so I didn't." You want to think that you did all you could and you found them, or that even though you didn't find what you were looking for you made memories on the way that made your life worth living.

I think you're friends are trying to tell you this, despite the way you make them sound. And I understand the fear you have of being alone, believe me I've been there, but you have to learn to conquer that fear. It's all up to you to decide whether you want to see a therapist, remember that. If you decide to do so, though it's a step to the right decision because it would mean that you're not up to wasting your life worrying over something that's out of your control.

Final thing I have to say is: don’t lose hope. You have to realize the line between desperation and hope, because desperation prevents you from living and hope keeps pushing you forward, towards your dreams. It might sound cheesy, but it’s true.

Also, even if there isn't a fandom per se, you totally should draw your interpretation of the characters! Book fanart is awesome for precisely that reason. :D

The idea that Abed might have depression is something I've been thinking about a lot since Contemporary Impressionists, also based off of my own dealing with that illness. I wonder if that was intentional by the writers, or if it's just my experience affecting how I view the show. I hope that you can get help if you need it, and that your Troy can continue to be your friend. :)

It is pretty hard to write Cas canon because there are a lot of lines that fandom sort of hung onto (aka "the voice is telling me I'm running out of minutes" or the "gripped you tight and raised you from perdition" line) and I feel like that has sort of influenced his fanon characterization, if that makes sense? So seeing a lot of that makes it hard to tell what's canon vs. fanon. Also, if you're not pretty strictly within the fanon guidelines, some of which leads you toward a parody!Cas, people are going to call OOC.

On the other hand, when you're writing porn it's pretty obviously not canon, so in some ways, you get a ~free pass on some parts of his characterization. Writing porn puts you in a totally different place with the dynamic of the characters, also, and I think that may be a part of it as well. I find the dynamic between everyone on Supernatural so hard to get right because it's very elaborate and romantic while not being straight-up romantic. How you write the characters' interactions also affects their characterization, so pornin' it up makes that bit easier to deal with, in my opinion. Also, he does come out with all that shit like "I gave everything up for you Dean" that makes the porn seem like not much of a stretch.

I think part of it is that, because it is so easy to post on ff.net, there are a lot of fics that maybe didn't need to be posted. I mean, I know some of my younger fic that I posted there suck horrible. >_>;

On the flip side, though, I do like ff.net's format better, and I've found some really good fic there, so when people treat ff.net like it's the Worst Place Ever, I have to wonder...

I do like professors that do that. I had one who encouraged/reprimanded me when she knew I was slacking off because I knew I could get by with minimal effort, but she knew I could do so much better if I actually put a bit more effort. ^^;
