I prefer FF.net for reading fic. Much easier to find things, like the format better. Also, no such thing as a friends lock, and no having to go to another entry that may not be linked, and no having to go to another entry because you hit the word limit (which I've seen fics on LJ do.) Plus it's much easier to tell when something's updated with story alerts and favouriting. Basically, it's actually designed for it.

The benefits to LJ (direct formatting control, easy editing) don't matter as much to me as the easier readability and tracking ability. And I kinda really hate Ao3's colour scheme.

And I have read plenty of good fics on FF.net, I don't know what everyone's talking about there. Maybe I find it easier to skim or mentally filter from summaries? I don't know.
