Additionally, a lot of concern about fic being found (as in the example I gave above) isn't so much the people it's about as third parties. If someone wants to read RPF about themselves, that's their prerogative; however, I don't want someone who's going to read fic and then make fun of it in a public forum. The general disdain for fandom is strong enough without fic being mocked by people who don't have any understanding of the context or culture it came from.
