Yes to all of this, I can't even begin to describe how awesome I think this series is! And on a more serious note, I think it did a good job with the female characters (badass Romulan commander case in point!) and different ethnicities considering the era, and there are many episodes with philosophical and political problems without easy solutions.

And then, of course, there's shirtless Spock mounting shirtless kirk in a dungeon. Seriously, I just watched the screen in wonder, thinking so this is where all the fanfic tropes come from!.
