Yeah, I've been replaying through FFVII and it looks SO BAD on my HDTV. Sometimes the text gives me a headache because it's so messed up by the resolution. I think the PS3 automatically decreases the window size of PS1 games, because I recall playing MGS1 on an HDTV using a PS3 and it was shrunk to a smaller size without me changing any settings. Still didn't look great, but it was better.

Is there a way to decrease window size without using a PS3 or emulator or something like that? Like through the TV or the PS2 or something?

On the PS2? Not that I know of. You'd have to fiddle around with the settings on your TV and see if it has a way to resize the screen/change the resolution.
