#8 and #10 are just blatant shilling, why are they in the secrets pile it when they are both so blatantly product ads. Especially #8, which is a crude attempt at getting a viral campaign going.

If this is some attempt at a viral campaign, it's not very good one. It doesn't tell what the show is or what it's about and that picture isn't very interesting.

But principle-wise, what's the difference between this and "I wish this had a fandom"?

I never said it was a competent attempt, just a blatant one. The difference is one is made by a fan hoping that there might be other fans out there and wanting to connect, the other is done by a soulless corporate shylock hoping to sucker in some pigeons to watching or buying their crap and doesn't give a a dolphin's sweet-fuck about fan-community.

How do you know a fan made the first one, and not a soulless corporate shylock? If they were trying to be sneaky about it (sucker in pigeons and whatnot), why would they mention they work on the show? I'm not really seeing the problem.

Why not go complain in their thread about it?

Much more fun complaining here, who can be bothered with all that scrolling down. It's the blatantness that is the problem, if they were at least putting in some effort at pretending to be a fan it would be fine. I just don't feel such lazy blatantness should be secretworthy. Make 'em work a bit for their viral marketing.

What do you feel is secret-worthy then? I mean, if it were like "everyone should watch this show because it's great and it will be on this channel at this time and these are the characters and people you should ship and places you should write letters telling them how much you love the show" and stuff, maybe. But this isn't too bad.

It doesn't appear to be working, anyway.
