Have you watched Thor?

Because I think Darcy is exactly the type of character you're looking for. I really wish that particular role wasn't so male dominated too.

(And for people saying the role has already been played by women in the form of 'bimbos', I think there is a difference between goofy characters and ditzy characters? To use Teen Wolf as an example, Scott is a male ditzy character and Stiles is a male goofy character, and while lots of women have been allowed to play the ditzy role, not that many have been allowed to play the goofy one. Although it's true I haven't watched that much older TV, so perhaps I'm wrong.)

I knew I liked her for a reason! She does take that typical "wacky best friend" role and own the hell out of it.

I'd also say Annie in Community. Well, all of Community is pretty good about pretty much everything. Britta comes off as the "practical and serious woman!" but she's more a parody of it, really. But Annie actually gets a lot of moments where she's being her own wacky self.

Guess I'll just give up language! Flip-flob-flibbity-flooo...

Really? IMO it's the other way around -- Annie is the parody of the practical women; she's the one that does well in school and makes plans and tries to fix everyone's life (but because it's Community she's not RIGHT about how to do that). Britta has ~serious morals~ which are sometimes parodied, but she's supposed to be the irresponsible one who never has her shit together.

Huh. I suppose that is a thing too. I feel like when Annie gets to hang out with Troy and Abed more, she becomes fantastic (she joined Troy in aiding Abed's Christmas fantasy/delusion, she chloroformed that guy, things like that). I guess it's more that Britta's serious moments are always tongue-in-cheek, because she's so shallow, whereas Annie just genuinely tries.

It could also be that the "practical" character often comes off as a little cold, and Britta is...robot-like, while Annie is warm and adorable. And that Britta is somehow the "alpha female" in the group.
