I get this a lot. I guess because most of the icons I use have dudes in them. It's just because I really like dudes? And looking at them?

ETA: Maybe this explains some of the hate, since I tend to talk about issues affecting women a lot.

I think it's the icon thing. I know I tend to automatically associate people with their most-used icon. It really messes me up when people switch all the time.

Regarding why you're so hated here, I think there's more to it than that. I remember this one time when you were arguing with some anon over something and I got the impression that both of you were making the exact same point, but the anon worded it a little differently than you did.

I'm still annoyed that I keep getting misgendered though. Like everyone in my icons needs to be female, I can only draw pictures of girls and write "I feel" instead of "I think" for people to realize I'm female.

DA, but I've always assumed you were female. Probably because most of what I've seen you comment about is women's issues, and I tend to agree with a lot of your opinions on the subject. Not that I'm trying to imply that I couldn't possibly agree with a guy about feminist issues, but my default reaction was just = 'I agree with this chick.'

I always assumed you were female, too, but then, I also have the same problem: when I'm not using a blatantly feminine avatar or username, most people assume I'm male, even if my font color is pink. I think this is mostly just because of the way we type.

I tend to assume everyone on FS is female, except for technophile. Actually, in fandom, my default "voice" for everyone's post is female, unless I have reason to think otherwise.

My fandoms are (to my knowledge) 90%+ female.

I don't care what people think my gender is online. Call me whatever you like.

Same! Well, almost. Sometimes, rarely, I think some commenting folks are guys, but most of the time, I default to female, aside from technophile and some of those guys with male-looking anime-or-comic-book-styled/furry portraits of themselves as icons.

I usually assume female on LJ anyway, unless... I'm not sure. Unless someone doesn't use cute kaomoji and doesn't use lots of tildes and stuff... and, I don't know, has a masculine name? I guess I just get a feeling that some folks are male and most are female, but I'm not sure what it's based on exactly.

But! You always seemed female to me.

yeah, you're right. I've gotten a little better over the years. But then, all it takes for me is to hear 'damn, that bitch has huge tits' for me to go scurrying back into my oversized shirts.
