I read the comment as "If we agree that making another person feel bad in any way isn't alright, then why do we do it to each other?" The last line is unfortunate, but it doesn't invalidate a pretty good point.

I think it's a very weak, very generalizing point no matter how you look at it. There isn't any way to argue that the people who are trying to stop bullying are any part of making other people in the fandom feel bad. It's like if a group at a school was involved in helping anti-bullying campaigns, would you call them hypocritical because they go to an average school where people get bad-mouthed from time to time?

The language is strong, but I understand the sentiments behind them enough. O.P looks at the anti-bullying thing and made the connection. It could've been worded better so that it wouldn't be taken as accusatory. But you know, I come from a fandom where everyone's defensive and accusatory and it's practically become the Western Front, so maybe I'd have seen this differently if I was a Trekkie.

Can we all just agree that it'd be nice if more people could remember to be nice to everyone?
