2. Hurr. And I thought this joke was getting old.

3. Yes it does. There's a whole system for calculating "better"; it's very complicated and involves numbers. [/sarcasm] Seriously, like what you like and to hell with anybody else.

7. Augh christ no they are not doing each other. They are cheering people on. There is nothing to slash here, move along.

23. If you want to be taken seriously in a Japanese department, you have to deny any and all anime fandom. It's just a fact. Once you graduate you can come back out of the closet. Sorry.

25. Why not? They have some of the greatest chemistry I've seen animated; Not "shipping" them -- whatever that means -- is just ignoring good writing. If you don't "ship" them, then why watch at all? Your secret confuses and infuriates me!

27. Enjoy it while you can; Gackt is getting wrinklier and weirder-looking with each passing day. He's so hard up for fans he's playing concerts over here now, for god's sake.

sounds like someone doesn't like Gackt.

No.

Not the OP, but the couple does nothing for me either. "Romantic chemistry" isn't a concept with an exact definition, and it's perfectly possible to think two characters have very little, while you think they're smoking. I understand the series is going to be Haruhi/Kyon. I understand the little touches the author puts to their relationship to hint at that eventuallity.

I just don't find someone who is so completely unaware of their feelings as to make them manefest themselves subconsciously, and another person who is utterly hooked on a shallow "dream girl" to be a couple I particularly care one way or the other for.

[identity profile] pts.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I can understand that. You make a good point. So why watch the show?

[identity profile] rmarques.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it offers enough stuff to keep the OP interested despite the his/her dislike for the pairing? I mean, not everyone bases wether or not they watch a show on pairings. Hell, you can even dislike a character a still enjoy a show. Pairing ≠ Show

Your "logic" and "rationality" are making me look bad. Cut it out.

Digression: What could the OP possibly mean by "I don't ship them?" She doesn't write fanfic about them? She disagrees with their relationship? She wants a cookie? What?

[identity profile] rmarques.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much the first two options. She doesn't writes fanfiction about them, and disagrees with their relationship. If it's not canon (yet?), then she can mean that she really doesn't thinks that it'll ever happen. And who doesn't wants a cookie? :P

[identity profile] pts.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll tell you who doesn't want a cookie: Those damn nazis.

Sorry, lame attempt at humor.

There's nothing to the show except Haruhi and Kyon's romantic relationship? Personally, I watched it because of the first episode, which promised to be a fun look at a group of high school students, one who had reality warping powers and and the rest of them weirdos from other dimensions or whatnot.

Personally, for me, the series never lived up to that very first episode, but it was an enaging watch.

[identity profile] pts.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough.

I disagree (in the most strenuous possible terms) about unfulfilled promise, but that's a matter of personal preference, naturally.

[identity profile] musouka-manga.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I think the implication of the "promise" I was talking about wasn't lived up to. Instead of really being about an ensemble cast and the group dynamics as a whole, it mostly dealt with how Haruhi's personal feelings of dissatisfaction with her life led to the warping of the world around her--and what that told us about how she really felt about herself and, yes, Kyon.

Which wasn't bad, I guess. I understand what they were going for, I think it fufilled its purpose well, but that first episode's down-to-earth normality with a touch of weird was what pulled me into the show, and I found the rest of it really lacking that touch.

2. its, uh, not a joke. i dont ship them like alot of people ship things (OMG BUTTSEX) i ship it as a completely innocent puppy love infatuation.
