nobody was freaking out about this when they were talking about other actors playing khan, not that i saw anyway
obviously i get why it's an issue and why it's not cool, but the thing is that this is not real life, and it's fiction. more than that, it's science fiction, with crazy alien species and whatnot, so that makes me not take it so seriously because there are also blue people and ferengi and shit
maybe nu!khan, if he even exists, will be literally like birthed in a petri dish and is a crazy experiment and they just give him a name that is normal for the area or something
mainly the reason why i don't like all this wank is because the movie hasn't come out, and we don't know what the circumstances of reboot khan are, if there even are any

Second point: In both Space Seed and Wrath of Khan, not only is Khan portrayed as EXPLICITLY Indian, he is also played by an actor who was obviously chosen for his non-WASPishness (Ricardo Montalban, a Latino). It's embarrassing when you're more willing to cast a non-white actor in the 1960's and 1980's than you are in 2012.
Third point: The fact that there are aliens in the Star Trek universe doesn't mean there are no people of colour as a result, or that green people (Vulcans) are necessarily a replacement for racial minorities. Why can't we have it all? And, yes, it might be a fictional universe, but that doesn't mean we get to ignore the fact that certain racial groups both exist on Earth and are often erased from media on said Planet.
And, presumably, we're marketing this film to the citizens of Earth, not blue people. (if there are blue people on earth who are not just the Blue Man Group or really cold white people I apologise for your erasure)
