Mako bothers me, I really don't like him. It feels like a very forced Zuko part 2 angsty thing.

It annoyed me when he said 'You're the avatar and I'm an idiot' after finding out who Korra was. Did he seriously just apologise for being a dick because she was the avatar? So its ok to be a dick to a person just because you think shes a fangirl or whatever? Its ok to treat non-avatars in a rude and dismissive way?

And don't get me started on the dead parent crap, and Asami too, my god. I thought the makers of the show would have gotten the whole dead parent angst out of their system after the last series.

I don't watch Merlin, but I feel like going places where the actors are there would be fun, but yeah if they find you annoying then it's not something you should do. Plus, Merlin shoots on location occasionally, right? I was at a castle they used for filming an episode (Caerphilly Castle) and I'm sure other places like that must exist. So if you have to do a Merlin-themed vacation, you could go to locations they're not at right then?

trust me there are kinky lesbians out there that understand writing porn (and fandom in general). and trust me, they don't just exist in this fandom.

on the flipside, just because you're really getting into this stuff now, doesn't mean you still won't ever like vanillaish stuff.

Emi was the best and her path was my favorite. Almost all the things I have to say about that path are positive, while I'm kind of a bundle of grievances for every single other part of the game.

The art didn't bother me that much, tbh. Girls drawn in that style always look younger than they are, and I wasn't really playing for the h-scenes. I was creeped out by the original sprites and was really glad that got changed for the full version, though.

Maybe it's that I've always been ridiculously young-looking for my age, like, back when I was Emi's age it was really difficult for me to get anyone to believe I was an adult. I had trouble even passing for an older minor D: I guess that's why I tend to go with stated age for characters rather than "ewww kind of young looking with that style" unless it's REALLY incongruous or something.

I don't disagree that the writing can at times be silly (and can Shonda stop it with the same-ish monologues every single character gets?), but at the same time, there's a lot of silly shows out there with sometimes terrible writing that people still watch. Which isn't to say that you should feel obligated to watch a show you don't like just because of the solid POC representation, obviously, but you don't have to hold it to a higher standard because of that or something.

But really I don't get what your difficulty is, OP. You don't like the show, and that's fine. Your tumblr friends do like the show, and that's fine too. Is it really vital to go into why either of those things is true? I don't think so. You don't have to tell people you don't watch it/like it. Chances are, they really don't care, and aren't actually going to notice your lack of stanning for it.
