It has? Because of the seme/uke thing of who tops whom? I'm not really in the fandom, so I don't know what the fandom wanks about, though from what I've seen I wouldn't think the whole top/bottom is a hot button for wank.

Or is it because the secret seems to equate seme/uke tropes with D/s? Or something else that I'm missing?

I'm taking the whole shota aspect into consideration (the character they're talking about being the dom is about 12, last time I checked in on the canon for this series), plus the top/bottom hot button (I've noticed, no matter the fandom, it's a hot button for SOMEONE).

I'm half-expecting someone to come in and make the argument that just because the child character is in the position of "power" over the adult character that it should automatically be less squicky for everyone in the fandom.

I would think the background of this series would negate a few of the usual arguments, tho. The kid's an entitled revenge-seeking crazy, the butler's a literal demon, he's going eat the kid's soul by the series' end, neither of them has any moral reservations to speak of, etc. etc. I think if you toss in "one of the pairing is a minion of Hell" it tempers the omgdepravity expectations a wee bit.

Oh, it's absolutely fucked up no matter how you slice it. I agree on that fully. My point is, in my experience, there's always been someone who will make the argument that a fucked up pairing is somehow less fucked up simply by switching the order.

Yeah, Ciel is 13 for most of the series (was 12 in the beginning). He looks young for his age IMO.

Um... does this read as wanky? Because that was entirely not my intention. I wasn't even aware this could be considered something to wank about. It's just a pairing/dynamic preference. :\

I'm not saying it was your intention to start wank, OP. I've just been in enough anime fandoms with a reasonably-large BL fanbase to know that there's at least one person who takes top/bottom pairing dynamics are seriously as death in all of them, and with the added shota aspect (which is kind of a hot button with some folks here on F!S, judging from my experience here so far), it could theoretically make for explosive wank.

Dude, I know. The people who write it the other way round? Have not read or watched the same canon I read and watched.

I never watched the series, but for all my love for G/PG rated Shota, I never thought of that dynamic before. Wow-ee... where is the fic/art indeed? Even if only to see what exactly happens.

Well, you know . . . First, let me say that I don't mean to do the usual dismissive "why don't you write it yourself" here, OP.

But I am going to encourage you to write it, because if enough of us write Ciel/Sebastian rather than Sebastian/Ciel, the idea will seem less shocking and improbable to the fandom as a whole. And then more writers will write it that way, and there will be a whole collection of ways in which people see that dynamic working itself out, and in a year or two it could even be the majority point of view. There are already a few writers who see it that way, but the more there are, the better our odds of reaching, as it were, critical mass.

Also.....er.....is anyone else kinda freaked out by Ciel's face in that picture? It looks like the art for the Fruits Basket anime or something. Makes him look way older than he actually is. I think it's the long mouth. YUKI? AKITO? IS THAT YOU?
