I used to laugh whenever I saw this movie (I've always had a morbid, somewhat ridiculous sense of humor). Even the saddest parts just weren't all that sad. =/ About a year after my father died I remember being home alone and just randomly stumbling upon The Titanic on TV. I expected to still find it funny, but I didn't. Instead I cried so hard I thought I was dying. I literally couldn't breathe. And it lasted ages. I must have spent an hour just laying there sobbing my eyes out.

Talk about doing a complete 180%. I still find it sad, to be honest, and I now get choked up over things I never would have before. I never used to cry about character deaths, but now? Now they bring me to tears.

Anyway, I totally get you. I felt like a huge part of me just broke off and died when my father passed away. I'm not bitter, but I'm a lot less empathetic than I used to be, not to mention more introverted and emotionally retarded. I'm pretty sure I used to be able to deal with emotions properly before he died. Now it seems that I just can't handle them well at all. I'm all over the fucking place, basically, and I'm constantly frightened of losing other people I love because I feel like they'll just keep ripping out chunks of me and taking it with 'em.

So yeah, I think I understand where you're coming from, unfortunately.
