Haha! I actually remember doing a Pod-cast that addressed this topic, I think.

Meh, different strokes for different folks. I always found Ike to be supermecha asexual, simply because he never seems to show any interest in any women or men throughout Radiant Dawn. I mean, he does 'leave' with Ranulf or Soren, but I have close friends who I'd never pursue a relationship with but would follow to the end of the Earth if they asked me.

But I'll agree with you that some people are ridiculous about it. xD Manly gay guys exist, same with manly bi guys. I find it's mainly straight guys who idolize Ike that tend to preach that.

Ike/Ranulf A Support: After seeing Skrimir crowned as king, Ranulf set off on a journey, saying only, "There's so much I haven't seen."

I always considered it canon...you DO unlock special scenes with them for supporting them to A-level, after all, and that's a pretty good indicator of canon couple with a main character in Fire Emblem. (See: Eliwood/Ninian, possibly Hector/Lyn.)

But yeah, I hate it when people say that. Whether or not it is canon, it's perfectly valid to ship them and how 'manly' a character is has nothing to do with their orientation.

There are special Hector/Lyn scenes with an A support? Where are these?

There's one in Battle Preparations most notably, if they have an A Support you can have them talk. It unlocks a new song in the song room, too. You can also have all the lords talk to each other in the first part of the final chapter, but you have to do it in a certain order. (Lyn has to speak with Eliwood before she can speak with Hector; not sure if Hector does too.)

So agreed. Ike/Soren fits the typical FE romance mold absolutely perfectly. The "JUST FRIENDS" reeks of hypocrisy, especially when it comes from someone who likes Ike with one of his actual female friends.

It's really depressing that this fandom is still "debating" it. It's not like FE's never had gay before. Sigh. At least LJ fandom loves it.

I've been hardcore FE-nerding again after taking a several year break, and thusly find this secret well timed. ;)

Yeah, I have always considered them pretty much as close to canon as they can get short of weddings in the epilogue (looking at you, Hector and Eliwood.) The two are rather well fitted together. Will I accept the platonic superfriends for life thing as well? Sure, but yeah, my fluffy Ike/Soren love will always be for something a little closer. I do agree that the people who pull that "Ike is too manry to be gay" thing are complete idiots. xD;

...now I want to replay PoR:Ch.27 again, but I need to go to bed... (playing through on hard mode, and Aether is refusing to activate against the BK and I REFUSE to be stuck with Ena...)
