One of my friends did the exact same thing, only she was one of those fans who complains about EVERY new plot development and won't shut the hell up (I'm serious, we're talking about every time the comic updates) about how the trolls ruined Homestuck and how none of the fans pay attention to the more interesting parts of the comic and how the fantrolls are the cancer of the fandom and how Jack Noir or whoever was ruined and how Hussie doesn't know how to write but she'll continue reading anyway just to see if they go back to the Felt or the Intermission stuff or whatever and remember when the comic was good and blah blah blah...

And then she wonders why I don't want to read it when like 80% of my exposure to it is how much it's been ruined and how much the fans suck.

So yeah, I know that feeling. It's unfair, and you can't help but feel bad because you're not giving something a chance and that maybe you'll like it, but when you're constantly exposed to something you previously were indifferent to all the time, your interest level just plummets. =/

But yeah, I feel bad for not giving it a try and I won't be a jerk and hate on people who are fans of Homestuck, but thanks to her daily rants, I know in what sequence the trolls die and who dies, when Jack Noir turns into a dog thing (she was really hung up on Jack Noir, but I'm not into the fandom so I can't really guess why), which kids ascend into God tier, etc, etc. and it kind of kills it for me. =| I try not to say I won't give it a try anywhere (which is why I'm anon right now) because I've had other people snap at me for it and then say I'm selfish for letting this get to me.

Yeah, she has a serious thing for Jack Noir, and complains a lot. Does your friend also have a thing for the Mayor?

As another Homestuck fan I agree wholeheartedly.

I also have to question anon's friend's taste (The Felt more interesting than the trolls? Really??) and wonder why she is still so invested in something she clearly no longer likes

Same anon here. She's one of those fans who goes on about how cool MS Paint Adventures used to be before it became popular (I forget which Act that would be; I just know she's been talking about MS Paint Adventures for what seems like years so she was one of those early adopters) and how the troll fandom is only doing it because it's popular and she holds a shred of hope that soon they'll go back to the carapaces, the Felt, the chess piece guys (forget what they're called), and the Midnight Crew and turn Jack Noir back into what he originally looked like or whatever. Also no more trolls. Because everything was so much better before the trolls.

In short, really ridiculous. I've tried to tell her that I really have no interest in hearing about Homestuck anymore but I usually get the "but you never tried it, maybe you'll like it so you have no right to complain" reason from her. She's a good friend but man our relationship is strained right now because of this.

Wow, really? Personally I find the carapaces relatively boring - I mean I do like them but compared to the humans and the trolls they're all pretty dull. (All of the characters you mentioned kind of fall into the category of "carapace" or something similar.)

The whole ~I liked it before it was cool!!~ makes me think of Eridan, the hipster troll. xD

I think it's safe for you to say "I really can't like it because you ruined it for me! And it's all spoiled now anyway!" (except maybe more nicely haha) Seriously, having someone bug you like that about something they like is so over the top. And if she actually thinks the series is ever going to go back to ~only~ being about carapaces and humans, and Bec Noir is going to go back to being Jack Noir, she needs to get over it. Homestuck is constantly changing and evolving and the next thing is never what anyone expects. If she wants something predictable there are a plethora of other fandoms she could try. Homestuck is anything but predictable.

Just my opinion! No offense to your friend. But she is really being obnoxious lol

lol maybe that's why everyone who ~liked it before it got popular~ started griping about it and why they hate the trolls. OUR FANDOM HAS BEEN HIJACKED! THE TROLLS RUINED EVERYTHING!!!!!111!

Personally I love the trolls, but I also started reading it after Act V came out. The trolls were one of the things that first interested me about it. I love just about all the characters, though. :)
