Wait.

If you were going to start watching a show, wouldn't it make more sense to start from the beginning in the first place? No really. Would you opening a book to a random page and start reading from there? Or go to the cinema half-way through a movie? Television series are generally the same. Starting from the beginning gives you the information you need to understand and enjoy the later parts.

So yes, I do think you might enjoy it more if you watched it from the beginning, OP. That doesn't just go for Community either, it goes for most media.

A lot of sitcoms are pretty episodic, so typically they can be picked up in the middle and understood as long as one gets the general concept. Like, one of my favorite sitcoms is Scrubs, and I've never watched it in order because I saw it in reruns, and I still understood it completely. With sitcoms, it's usually more like picking up a random Babysitter's Club or Nancy Drew book and starting from there. This idea can fall apart in later seasons, but Community becomes like this in season two, which is unusual.

da

Community is more a comedy and less your typical sitcom. It's one of the few sitcoms (like Green Wing and Mighty Boosh, for example) that needs to be watched in order, IMO. Even if it's just to see the character development.

That is a good way of putting it! Though I find it interesting you mention Boosh, because I started watching it with second season episodes and still found it really funny then. It definitely made more sense from the beginning though, or at least as much sense as Boosh can make xD
