I do want her character to be deeper but I don't want her to be an Equalist for many of the reasons people have previously stated in this thread. Ideas I think are cool is maybe she's a reverse-Equalist in that she works for the metal bending cops as a mole in the Equalists. That would be cool. Or maybe she could simply be someone for Korra to meet who is like, "Yeah, non-benders are oppressed by benders and that needs to change but I don't support Amon because I believe in equality in diversity, not homogeny. Also I think Amon is totally just going to go tyrant on us if he won and it will be chi blockers who will be the privileged class instead of benders." In fact, she could be both at the same time.
If she did things like above it would give Korra a bit of perspective in that, yes, some of what Amon says is true but overall Amon is the bad guy. Korra could then have a personal revision of beliefs and blah, blah, blah you get where I'm going. But most of all I want her to be friends with Korra. That would be really, really cool. Korra doesn't have any friends who are girls and who are her age. So there's a lot of potential there. That sums up Asami for me. She has a lot of potential. I wanna see how it's used.
And personally, I'm not pissed about Mako looking out for Bolin. It makes sense that he would confront Korra about it because from his perspective a girl who just told him she liked him is now going out with his brother. He has every right to think Korra is doing it to make him jealous. Granted, he should know she's a better person than that but I think the only person Mako really trusts is himself. I don't think he even trusts his brother that much. I get the feeling he loves his brother and cares for him deeply but doesn't trust him to get the job done or do the smart thing.
However, that does not excuse him kissing her back. Yes, she did spring it on him, bad on her, but he shouldn't have kissed her back. He's already in a relationship. Also, he's all emo about liking two girls and was very hypocritical about his advice to Bolin before he knew Korra only had interest in him. He constantly is trying to exude this aura of adulthood but he's constantly acting like a child. While that's an interesting flaw I haven't seen any repercussions for this behavior while the other two main characters do see the consequences of their actions. So while I think it's a good character flaw I want to see consequences for those flaws other than his emo shit.
And here ends my two cents.
