I swear I'm not trying to be one of the SJWs who jumps down everyone's throat at the slightest little thing, so if this comes off that way, I'm sorry. That being said, women who adopt are mothers. Maybe they aren't birth mothers, but an adopted child is no less your child than a birth child.

I know what you meant, but I kind of felt like this was an important thing to say, so there it is.

The thought that only birth mothers are real mothers is quite harmful, imo, so I wouldn't want to imply that ever in any way.

I always felt as though Emily's version of Brennan was different than Kathy's though. More guarded, I guess? More self-sufficient because she does so much of her living in her own head. Which to me made it feel like she'd be less likely to want a family towards which she'd have a responsibility.

Actually, I don't think it would've--she went though the foster care system and I think she developed a negative view of it. There have been a couple episodes about foster kids, and she doesn't seem to regard it that well, so I don't think she'd adopt, to be honest. I almost feel like she's the kind of person who would end up creating a designer baby to make sure it carried specific DNA traits from her and the father.

I just thought that adoption is different enough from foster care that it'd be okay, but it's true, it may still hit too close to home for her. But the designer baby thing would make sense to me.

Ahh, I think I might've mis-read your original comment and thought you mean that Bones would adopt, but did you meant that she would've given the baby up for adoption?

Although, yeah, either way, I think she was really affected by her time in foster care and provided she chose to carry it to term, would be hesitant to give the baby up. I think she might always have the niggling doubt about the family the child ended up with, not wanting to make a mistake and have it be miserable for its entire life etc. Beyond that, since she told Booth after being only a couple months along, I think if she decided not to raise the baby, Booth would've happily taken her in.
