A dead baby is not the same as a baby that never existed. If the kid does die, it'll just become a show about them mourning their dead kid and dealing with the emotional trauma of losing her.

Would be nice to have more shows where people just didn't want to have kids and didn't change their mind about it. It's not that weird that it happened here, it just almost always happens and shameful as it is, it's hard for me to relate to characters who have kids or want them- I just really cannot see my life going that way and it's a little baffling!

Honestly I'd take the mourning storyline over the "we"re settling in as a happy new family" storyline any day. But yeah, I'd have preferred her to just radically choose not to have the kid.

But you can't radically wish away the fact that the actress is still pregnant.

Other shows have hidden pregnancies.

Also, they could have handled it differently plot-wise. She could have found out the kid had a severe disability and aborted late-term. She could have been attacked by the psycho du jour and miscarried. She could have given it up for adoption. She could have given it to her brother to raise. She could have split up with Booth, with Booth taking custody. So many options that suck less.
